Stainless Steel Round Bar
Round bar can be produced using either cold finish or hot finish processes, and is available in a wide range of grades and diameters, making it suitable for many different applications.
Grade 303 – Widely regarded as the best grade for machining, making it ideal for projects that require extensive machining work.
Grade 304 – The standard “18/8” stainless steel with excellent forming and welding properties. The low-carbon variant, 304L, does not require post-weld annealing, making it suitable for heavy-gauge components.
Grade 316 – A molybdenum-bearing stainless steel that offers superior corrosion resistance, particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It also has excellent forming and welding characteristics.
Grade 420 – Contains at least 12% chromium and can be hardened through quench-and-temper treatment. Maximum corrosion resistance is achieved after hardening and surface grinding or polishing.
Grade 431 – A nickel-bearing martensitic grade with the best corrosion resistance among martensitic steels. It is very strong in tension and torque, making it ideal for shafts and bolts.
